Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What quality assurances procedures do you use?
All assemblies are subject to 100% visual inspection at each and every stage of the assembly process. With the inclusion of the appropriate testing fixtures, Nelson Specialties Company will test all assemblies per design specifications prior to shipment.
Q: What is the minimum component size for your SMT assembly Pick & Place equipment?
A. Our SMT assembly pick and place operations have the capability of placing components down to 0201.
Q: Do you allow your customers to provide the parts for their build?
A: Yes. Kitted parts are always welcome. Nelson Specialties Company offers quotes based on kitted or full turnkey services requested.
Q: Can surface mount parts be provided in less than reel quantities?
A: Yes. However, if your build will be assembled using our auto pick and place process, we ask that all surface mount parts be provided on continuous tape, reels, tubes and in trays.
Q: Do you have lead-free/RoHS compliant assembly capabilities?
A: Yes. We offer lead-free/RoHS assembly for manual assembly as well as for SMT assembly pick and place processes.
Q: What information is required when requesting an assembly quotation?
A: Our website has a Request A Quote form that outlines the required information needed to provide you with a quotation. For an ‘assembly only’ quotation, a bill of material, electronic Gerber files, desired build quantity and assembly turn time is sufficient.
Q: Do you offer testing to your customers?
A: Yes. We are happy to test circuit board assemblies using procedures and test fixtures provided by our customers.
Q: My project requires some mechanical assembly. Do you offer electromechanical assembly services?
A: Yes. Electro mechanical assemblies are welcome. Please contact us at 877-221-6699 to discuss any unique box build or wire harness assembly requirements.
Q: I am interested in Turnkey assembly for my project. Do you offer this service?
